For our Girl Scout Silver Award Project, I decided to make blankets out of old t-shirts and donate them to animal shelters. The sustainable part of our project is teaching younger girl scouts about finding homes for shelter animals, as well as how to sew.
This project will benefit the Martinez Animal Shelter in Martinez, California. We also intend to teach as many people as possible about our project and how you can help.
How to make a t-shirt blanket:
1.Begin with 2 shirts that are about the same size.
2.Cut one side off of one of one shirt, including the shoulder..
3.Cut the collar off.
4.Cut the other sleeve off, but just the sleeve, not the entire side.Repeat with the other shirt.
5.Place the shirts front-to-front and sew them together, leaving a small hole at the top.
6.Turn the shirts inside out and sew up any remaining holes.
And you're done!
